DIY Mineralizing Tooth Powder
This is a simple homemade tooth powder with mineral and herbal ingredients. It’s very clove-forward, very earthy, and very much not pretending to be store-bought toothpaste.
If toothpaste is “minty fresh,” this is more like “ancient kitchen cabinet meets dental care.”
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp bentonite clay powder
- 1 tsp myrrh gum powder
- 1/2 tsp clove powder (this is the main personality of the recipe—adjust carefully unless you really like clove)
- 1 tsp calcium carbonate
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp arrowroot powder
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a dry bowl.
- Mix thoroughly until everything looks evenly blended and suspiciously like something you’d find in a small herbal shop.
- Store in a clean, dry jar with a lid.
How to Use
- Wet your toothbrush.
- Dip it lightly into the powder (a little goes a long way—this is not a “pile it on” situation).
- Brush your teeth as usual for 1–2 minutes.
- Rinse lightly, mineral powder works best when allowed to rest on your teeth.
What to Expect
- The texture is fine and slightly chalky.
- The taste is mostly clove, which is warm, strong, and very “I take oral hygiene seriously and possibly also time travel.”
- It does not taste like commercial toothpaste—and honestly, it’s not trying to.
Notes
- Clove is powerful. If you overdo it, your mouth will let you know immediately.
- Keep the powder dry to avoid clumping (moisture turns it into a very unhelpful paste situation).
- If irritation occurs, stop use.
